Richard Purdie

Yocto Project/Linux Foundation
Yocto Project Architect
Richard Purdie is the lead Architect of the Yocto Project, a Linux Foundation Fellow, maintainer for OpenEmbedded-Core and BitBake and has an extensive background in customised Linux solutions in many different industry sectors.

His experience includes time in small startups like OpenedHand through to large multinationals like Intel as an Embedded Linux Architect and Principal Engineer for Intel’s Open Source Technology Center. He has made numerous contributions to many open source projects including the Linux kernel as maintainer of the backlight and LED subsystems and has helped drive standards like the Yocto Project Layer Compatibility programme, working to combine the needs of business/industry with those of the open source communities.

Richard received his MSci in physics from University of Durham.
